Eureka! (almost)

luke and em eurekasI had a great time at the Eureka Awards last week (10th of September). We were shortlisted for the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage Eureka Prize for Environmental Research; ‘we’ being Prof David Keith and the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems team. Amazingly, Luke Kelly (who I share an office with here in Qaeco) was also up for the same prize as part of the Mallee Fire and Biodiversity Project Team, La Trobe University and Deakin University.

Sadly neither of us won, and I have to admit that the winning team has a great project: congrats to Professor Graham Edgar and Dr Rick Stuart-Smith (University of Tasmania) for the Reef Life Survey.

Nevertheless it was an excellent night, and while my phone battery ran out so I took zero photos, here is one of me and Luke – I think we scrub up ok! And here is the link to the official photos, including one of my sister-in-law Prof Emma Johnston with Australian Museum Director and CEO Kim McKay.
